About this species

Eurytides harmodius, the Harmodius Swordtail, is a member of the swallowtail family native to South America, with notable subspecies in the Peruvian departments of San Martín and Junín.

This species is unmistakable for its incredibly long, sword-like tails on its hindwings. The wings combine deep black with creamy-white markings and subtle red or pink dots on the lower side of the hindwings. It is a smaller but more delicate representative than its larger relatives in the Papilio genus.

At Kukusa, our Eurytides harmodius specimens are ethically collected and prepared with specialized tools to preserve their long and fragile tails.
