Anteos menippe, also known as the Menippe Brimstone, is a large butterfly from the brimstone family widely distributed in South America. This species is found from Texas all the way down to Argentina, but its most impressive forms are found in the moist forests of interest like the San Martín and Pasco departments of Peru.
The upper wing surface is pale yellow with bold orange patches near the margins of the forewings. Like many other brimstones, it has a robust flight and is often found in open areas and secondary forests. Its majestic appearance makes it a favorite in many scientific and aesthetic collections.
